Wind energy sector around the world is predicted to grow in future due to expansion in the Chinese, North American and European wind sectors.
According to the 2009 industry forecast by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), after observing a decade of stupendous growth, the world wind energy capacity is expected to become nearly three times by 2013, as reported by OilVoice.
GWEC has predicted that in the next five years, wind generating capacity across the world will reach 332 GW from 120 GW at 2008-end. In 2013, there will be an addition of 56.3 GW wind generating capacity, more than twice the 2008's annual market. Moreover, the YOY growth during 2013 will average around 22%, which is moderate in comparison to the 28% average growth rate observed during 1999-2008.
Tremendous growth in the Chinese wind generation capacity as well as steady expansion in North America and Europe will lead the global development in wind energy market. Strong policies for wind power generation will also support the growth in these markets.
The global wind energy sector will grow strongly in 2010 on the back of government-backed credit guarantees, growing market across Europe and strong market fundamentals.
Despite economic downturn, the US wind energy sector will continue to grow as the stimulus package will help the industry to reduce the impact of recession. Similarly, the Chinese wind sector is poised to witness robust growth in coming years. Thus, the global wind energy installations rise in the next few years.
Furthermore, governments are transforming the present crisis into an opportunity, with wind power being the focus of their recovery programs and stimulus packages. This will create thousands of jobs, improve the energy security and help in addressing the environmental issues.
According to a Research Analyst at RNCOS, "Economic slowdown will temporarily affect the global wind power sector, but strong political support and increasing number of utility and institutional investors will help the sector to overcome the bad phase. Moreover, the sector is representing enormous opportunities for the composite materials' suppliers in fabricating wind blades and various other components of wind turbines."
