Algeria is a producer of natural gas as well as LNG.
In US, natural gas is a source of energy that is required in abundance by all the sectors. In-fact, it is one of the prime sources of energy for energy intensive sectors. It is also considered as the most important source of energy for future. Natural gas, an alternative fuel, is available in abundance in the world as well as in the domestic premises. All this points to the conclusion that natural gas will continue to play an increasingly important role in meeting the demand of energy for US.
Algeria has nearly completed its renovation project to restore its liquefaction plants to their original capacities and the increase in natural gas prices in US. This has resulted in growth of LNG imports to US from Algeria. It is well known that Algeria has the capabilities to satisfy the future demand of LNG of US. Also, Algeria is closer to US geographically as compared to the other sources of natural gas.
A research analyst at RNCOS said, “foreign oil operators have consistently increased their share of Algeria’s oil production, Algeria is now undergoing an economic upturn in large parts, aided by strong oil and natural gas export revenues. America offers real opportunities for Algeria as LNG demand is increasing swiftly in its country”.
