The UK's Carbon Trust has offered £140,000 to trade organizations with an objective to encourage industry-wide greenhouse gas reduction programs.
On November 23, 2007, Carbon Trust of the UK offered £140,000 to deal with organizations keen to support the greenhouse gas minimization programs across the industry. The news came at a point when both regulators and consumers are impelling a more environment-friendly food sector, according to news published by Foodproductiondaily.
As a part of the new sign of funding, trade corporations are urged to pull together a plan specifying how the carbon dioxide (CO2) released can be minimized by January 9, 2008, stated the Carbon Trust.
The large emission of carbon dioxide has become a serious cause of concern for the environmentalists. The National Audit Office discovered that merely 12% of large companies have worked in association with Carbon Trust to minimize their CO2 emission and only 40% of the prospective savings accumulated during the period 2003-2006 have in reality been employed, said the Trust.
Rapid industrialization and increasing number of vehicles are the main factors behind the rising level of CO2 globally. On account of these reasons, the demand for fuels is also rising, ultimately amplifying the CO2 content in the environment. This can turn out to be unsafe for future as the fear of global warming is already hovering over the entire world.
To counter the problem of CO2 emission, an online carbon calculator is also launched by the Carbon Trust for businesses that will permit companies to swiftly sort out their primary carbon impacts while assisting the process of emission reduction. The carbon calculator will also help in saving carbon dioxide in excess of 2.7 Million Tons.
The government intends to reduce CO2 emissions from the 1990 levels by 20% by 2010, resulting a fall in the total CO2 produced by the UK from 592 Million Tons per year to 474 Million Tons, according to news published by Guardian .
A Senior Research Analyst at RNCOS says, “The rising danger of global warming appears to be translating into a certainty. At present, people are more concerned about the technical world while applying additional machinery but they also need to show their attentiveness towards a sleeping calamity which is waiting to start destruction. The governments of all the nations need to follow initiatives identical to the UK’s carbon Trust Corporation. Such steps will definitely assist in reducing the pollution level on a worldwide basis”.
