Canada has shown great concernon the greenhouse gas emission and rising pollution levels and hence, hasintroduced a new biofuel plan to improve the climatic conditions.
The federal government of Canadais re-introducing a legislation that will authorize biofuel content ingasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil within a span of 3 to 5 years startingfrom the next year. The Renewable Fuel Bill to be renewed would need 5% ethanolin gasoline by 2010 and 2% biodiesel in diesel fuel and heating oil by the year2012, according to news by Energycurrent .
To see that requirements are met,Canada will require about three billion liters of renewable fuel per year. The totalcountry’s per year biofuel production is about 800 Million Liters. Thegovernment has declared that commencing from April next year, companies canreceive inducements of up to CDN $0.10 a liter for ethanol and other renewablesto gasoline and around CDN $0.20 a liter for biodiesel.
As per government norms, theseconventions will decrease greenhouse emissions by near to 4 megatons annually, equal to removing around one million vehicles off the road. This would alsoeliminate opposition changes to the bill and would thus strengthenenvironmental regulations and would cleanout pollution emitted from largeindustries.
In addition to this, biofuel likeethanol is completely environmentally-friendly, healthier for farmers as wellas rural economies, and better for energy supply and gas prices. Thisinnovative biofuel bill, together with ecoEnergy program, will result in moreemployment in an essentially growing sector of the energy industry.
As per industry experts, thegovernment of Canada recognizes the desire of Canadians who are all set to playtheir part to improve climatic conditions and enhancing renewable content infuel. So they are going to immensely impact greenhouse gas emissions. It isobserved that renewable fuels also have the prospective to create new marketsand economic incentives for Canadian farmers and that is the reason why thegovernment has prioritized biofuel development in the country.
As per a research analyst at RNCOS , “The mounting concerns over globalwarming in the entire world have augmented many global activities to fightagainst the greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to this, with more unbalancedoil prices, there is an urgent requirement for Canada to rapidly expanddependable and renewable sources of energy.”
